The new Maribor Footbridge in our design approach serves as an event itself during the year of 2012, showing different facades during European Capital of Culture. It has optional walkways, and separate ways of crossing. Our design concept was to create a bridge that is airy, completely pedestrian-friendly, and elegant. There are separated ways for walking, bicycling, resting, playing, and for different urban activities. It serves as a public space and brings closer citizens to the river Drava.
Main structure is built, and one or two lanes of walkways are constructed. The airy, elegant structure is able to evolve.
One or two more lanes are added to the original structure, only wooden paneling is needed during construction.
Depending on the planned cultural programs, stages, boxes, added surfaces are constructed, also in a short period of construction time.
